This, as the fans on the bulletin board will tell you, is a great site!
Good use of web technologies has enhanced areas such as virtual tours and message boards whilst drop-down menus/shortcuts make fast work of locating specific site content. The excellent navigation and "mouse-over" explanations also mean that most content can be found with a minimum of "clicking". The imagery is enticing and the graphic reproduction of a high quality. Whilst there are a number of different visual offerings, such as web cams, the photo gallery was perhaps a little thin on content and could have benefited from larger "full size" images. The quality of the images however, couldn't be faulted and, the site is advertising for further contributors (could be a great showcase for any ski/snowboard photographer). Since this is the second time Snow.co.nz has won, the site's status has been elevated to that of "Giant WETA" winner. Crucial in attaining this award has been that the site's content is kept, both of a high quality and, up-to-date. Even now as most of the ski areas are closing for the season, their status, weather and snowfall conditions are being constantly updated. This is made all the more possible by combining dynamic pages such as ASP (active server pages) with the static (html) based site (thus having automated some of the processes involved with updating news stories and other frequently changing content). All of these features combine to make an excellent resource for the skiing and snowboarding enthusiast. Congratulations to all at Snow.co.nz. |
