A site which aims to simplify the task of planning and organising conventions, conferences, exhibitions and incentives in New Zealand, Conventions and Incentives New Zealand pools together many of the products and services associated with this industry.
The site is visually appealing with well rendered graphics, good use of colour and fonts and, a clean format. Navigation seems straightforward and, importantly, the information organised to suit international visitors. Very good search functionality makes the site a pleasure to use, even if the number of facilities listed could be greater. (A search of all available venues produced only 75, could this be all the facilities in NZ?) The selection did however provide a wide range in terms of both the type and, location of the venues which is fine by us. Quality over quantity any day! There's great local information on the entire country. Useful for sure, for those planning to fit in a little site seeing around the actual convention dates. Speaking of which, the events calendar is a thoughtful addition, providing details of events happening during the next 7 or so months. Again, the quantity of listings could be improved. When our judges visited there were between two and seven events listed for each month however, the platform is in place so, we're sure it will fill out in the course of time. The site promotes a hard-copy planner of the same ilk which is available free of charge. A website can work very well to promote this type of material and we're pleased to see this example however, the information promoting advertising in the planner appears to be over two years out of date (an advertising deadline of 5th December 1997). It is a shame since the rest of the information regarding the planner is clear and concise and, there are good illustrations of advertisement sizes. The Conventions and Incentives New Zealand site provides a good example of how a website can excel when it is well focused. A very useful resource for local and international conference organisers. |
