We try not to refer to sites as "tasteful" since taste is subjective however, as the word came up so frequently in the judges comments, this time there may be no avoiding it.
Not only does this site use just the right number of font styles, compelling (and grammatically correct) copy and complimentary colours but, it suitably reflects the quality of the establishment itself. Images are extremely well rendered including the excellent photographs which, with a file size of around 20k each, display speedily in the browser window. These have been restricted to around two per page (which further aids download speeds) and, there are larger images available for those who'd like to get a closer look. While on the subject of photographs, it surprises the judges just how much the photographic quality can vary from one site to another. A little thought about the images which are going to be used, preferably, prior to the construction or redevelopment of a site, could go a long way. Of course a site's appearance alone doesn't make a WETA winner. As with other WETA winners this site is extremely functional. Navigation is kept simple via a graphic menu bar on the left of the screen and, hyperlinked text at the bottom of each page.There's much more to this site than we could possibly list here but, other content includes information about nearby attractions, detail about the property and its history and, perhaps most importantly, a secure means by which potential guests can make a reservation. In summary, a very well thought out, extremely well designed and "tasteful" site. |
